Hashim Amla presents a return catch to Nathan Coulter-Nile
A match-winning cameo from Brad Hodge guided Australia to a five-wicket victory over South Africa in a rain-affected Twenty20 international at Durban.
Hodge plundered 21 not out from just eight balls – including two sixes from Wayne Parnell’s final over – to see Australia home with two deliveries to spare.
Rain had reduced the match to seven-overs per side and big-hitting from Quinton de Kock (41 off 20) and Faf du Plessis (27 off 13) propelled the Proteas up to 80-1 batting first.
David Warner maintained his excellent form with a brutal 16-ball knock of 40 but the Australia run-chase was derailed when JP Duminy picked up two wickets in the space of four balls.
That left Australia requiring 28 from the final two overs, a target they passed thanks to back-to-back sixes over midwicket from Hodge off Parnell.
Australia lead the three-match series 1-0 with the deciding T20I taking place in Centurion on Friday.
