Ivica Olic can expect to lead the Wolfsburg attack at Werder Bremen, although he admits he is undecided about his future.

After salvaging a point for Wolfsburg against Augsburg at the weekend, Ivica Olic can expect to lead the Wolves’ attack at Werder Bremen on Tuesday night, although he admits he is undecided about his future.

Stoke made an offer for the Croatian in the winter and, although the former Bayern Munich man turned them down then, he may be open for offers in the summer.

Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking has frequently preferred Bas Dost over the Croatian in the second half of the season, prompting Olic into a rethink.

“I was not entirely happy with things in Wolfsburg and I felt it would be better to move,” said Olic to NDR television. “I was a bit surprised not to be playing because I was top scorer and I was also playing well for the national team.

“I thought it would be a good chance to move to England at my age, but the kids desperately wanted me to stay in Germany so I said I would wait a bit and give myself some time.”

He is still leaving his options open and will probably see how much of a chance Hecking gives him between now and the end of the season, while qualifying for Europe could also convince him to stay.

Wolfsburg’s director of sport Klaus Allofs says he will be given all the time he needs to make up his mind.

“We sat down a few days ago and discussed the options,” Allofs said. “He has time, but of course this is not a decision we want to make on the last day of the season.”

Olic is instead preferring to focus on Bremen and picking up three points in the quest for a place in Europe.

“We’ve got a tough week ahead now and the players are focusing on that,” he said. “Then I will be more sure about where I want to play next season.

“Things are looking pretty good in the league and we still have a good chance.”

Bremen’s league position is not so healthy, particularly not after losing to Freiburg on Friday night.

They are only six points above the relegation zone, but not precisely playing their best football at the moment, according to their director of sport Thomas Eichin.

“There was nothing at the back, nothing in the middle and nothing up front,” he said of their performance on Friday night. “It was a poor performance.”
