A 17-year-old girl was caught in rival gangs crossfire and shot dead in Chalgrove Road, Tottenham, north London Monday night.
Identified as Tanesha Melbourne, the teenager was just chilling with friends at 9:30 p.m. when she was shot from a car without any reason.
An eyewitness, chosen to be anonymous, said men in a car pulled up gun and started shooting and the gunshots sounded like fireworks.
People who know Tanesha said she was a lovely girl, innocent kid and a kind beautiful young soul.
“Rest in perfect peace my cousin Tanesha – still can’t even deep this right now,” tweeted her cousin after finding in news about the incident.
A friend of the victim wrote, “Omggggggg, not Tanesha Lord! I literally watched this girl grow.”
After receiving a phone call of gun fire in Chalgrove Road, a residential street near Nothumberland Park station, the police team rushed with London Ambulance Service where Tanesha was found shot by gun. The paramedics battled to save her, but at 10:43 p.m. she was pronounced dead.
The eyewitness said Tanesha’s mother arrived screaming and didn’t know what to do.
Tanesha was wounded below her breast and it was not immediately visible and looked as if she was “having a fit.” It was understood only when the paramedics removes her bra to get to the injury.
Tottenham-based rapper Wretch tweeted, “North London were better than this man smh R.I.P to the young angel who lost her life last night love & prayers to the family.”
No arrests have been yet made, but manhunt has been launched. Gun and knife-related crimes have been on the rise this year in London and the rate has crossed that of New York, for the first time in history.
