Amazon To Hire 5K Workforce In UK In 2017

Amazon has lately said to be creating 5,000 more jobs in the United Kingdom by the end of this year and 10,000 more in rest of Europe.

The number claimed for UK includes its three fulfilment centers which are scheduled to open too in 2017 and another 1,500 technical roles.

With the the total workforce in entire Europe will total to about 50,000 by the end of 2017. Currently 19,000 people work for the retail giant in UK.

Amazon’s UK country manager Doug Gurr said, “We are creating thousands of new UK jobs including hundreds of apprenticeship opportunities as we continue to innovate for our customers and provide them with even faster delivery, more selection and better value.”

He added the hiring is for all types of roles like corporate managers, software engineers, flight test engineers, operations managers, service technicians, engineers, HR and other fulfilment roles.

Many companies have been lately too much concerned for expanding in UK following the Brexit, which is withdrawing of Britain from the European Union bloc.

However, tech companies like Google seemed unfazed by the prospect of Brexit. The search engine giant earlier said to be adding a new campus.

Facebook too said to be adding up 500 more employees in UK and this would be 50 percent more than the current strength.

Apple will be opening up a new headquarters by 2021 at the redeveloped Battersea Power Station.

Last year people voted for Brexit and it was followed by resignation of David Cameron. Theresa May became the next prime minister and she is learned to be initiating Article 50 for the withdrawal process next month.
