Black Model Naomi Campbell Avoids Using Word Racism

British supermodel Naomi Campbell is not interested to use “racism” word as she views it as far too “cliche.”

The 45-year-old model revealed in an interview for UK’s Channel 4 show titled “Alan Carr: Chatty Man” to be aired Thursday evening.

The first black model disclosed to have faced many difficulties while trying to enter into the fashion world and so she wants to use different word for racism. She likes calling it “territorialism.”

Campbell added, “I never use that word racism. I find it a cliche word, and i don’t want to use it as an excuse.”

Earlier this year in March the model published a preview to her book “Naomi Campbell” on the Guardian outlining her experience with territorialism in the industry.

Campbell revealed during the initial days of her struggle in the industry she was not booked for certain shows due to her skin color.

The black model wrote she understood at very early age while attending auditions and performing on ramps that she had to put in some extra effort and she need to be twice as good.

Campbell also explained how she made for the cover of French “Vogue.” In the first try the magazine instantly said ‘no’ to her without thinking. She was then a contract girl of her great friend Yves Saint Laurent. She asked him to fix situation with the Vogue and it worked.

The model added she still fights for young models of color even though she had succeeded in her career.
