Two people were killed in Muenster city, Germany, and several others injured after a man ploughed a van into crowd on Saturday at around 15:00 local time.
Officially unindentified, the driver killed himself too at the scene after killing and injuring several from the crowd.
No group has taken responsibility and terror attack has not yet ruled out even though no indication of such has been found.
According to State Interior Minister Herbet Reuel it is believed the man could be a German citizen who killed two beforing shooting himself.
The initial report suggested three people were killed.
Eyewitnesses said the grey VW van was driven at speed and photos circulated on social media showed tables and chairs strewn.
Motive and identity of the sispect remains unclear while local media writes he had mental health problems.
“I’m angry – it’s cowardly to do something like this,” said an employee of a nearby cafe.
Another eyewitness said, “I think it is a deliberate attack because it’s fnot allowed for cars to go in the area.”
Muenster city has a population of about 300,000.
