It is not yet the time from Britain to leave European Union (EU). The prediction may go wrong as the process could be finished by late 2019, if believed to the ministers lately who warned the same to senior figures in London.
Prime Minister Theresa May earlier had hinted to be enacting the article 50 in January 2017, which would take about two years time of negotiations before Britain bids adieu to the bloc.
However, now a City source claims her new Brexit and international trade departments will take some more time to prepare themselves before striking the negotiations with EU amid great pressure from anti-Brexit group.
The source also cites the elections in France and Germany as a good cause for delay.
French people will go to poll next year in May and the Germans in September. So, probably the article 50 could be enacted after at least the first election.
Meanwhile, a city insider said, “You can’t negotiate when you don’t know who you’re negotiating with.”
If this turns true, the hardline Eurosceptic Conservative MPs would turn towards anger those voters who expected a speedy Brexit would be left behind.
Former leader of the UK Independence Party (Ukip), Nigel Farage, has warned of mass demonstrations on the streets if Brexit is further delayed than earlier estimated. With this it is also feared millions of voters would join the extremists if they feel ignored.
It is also learned Britain would try reaching informal understandings with the EU on key issues before article 50 is enacted.
