One another new features announced on Facebook sounds interesting. The platform now offers to talk to random people online.
Called as “Discover People,” the new feature has started rolling out and to help users in connecting easily like-minded people and discover more about other users by simply browsing through their profile cards in the community.
The social network giant’s spokesperson said, “Too often, it’s hard to learn more about people around you, whether it is upon starting a new job, joining a new group, deciding if you want to attend an event, or moving to a new place.”
The interesting feature could be used for business networking or even for dating purposes. It is like a cross between Tinder and LinkedIn which allows browsing through profiles in the town or who work in the same company, and break the ice with strangers.
Facebook is currently rolling out the Discover People to Android and iOS devices worldwide.
TechCrunch writes the new feature may have privacy issue and could be a problem if anyone has a stalker or if someone is to be avoided.
The tech website writes Facebook must first educate users about the pros and cons of the new feature before rolling out and exposing to potential harassment.
The Mirror news website writes users need to upgrade the Facebook app to get the new feature and it will not be currently made available on the desktop version.
Discover People feature will appear in the navigation section below Device Requests.
