After about a year Rio Ferdinand first revealed his relationship with Kate Wright the two are now, while on holiday in Abu Dhabi. He shared the news with fans and followers on Instagram adding the former Towie star said yes to his proposal.
Kate too shared couple of photos of their engagement with her own fans and followers on Instagram writing, “The perfect end to our holiday… How could the answer not be yes.”
The 39-year-old football legend and 27-year-old Kate are seen embracing in front of a stunning view on the roof of the St Regis Hotel.
Rio has three children, Lorenz, 12, Tate, 10, and Tia, 7, and it is not known how they kept the relationship a secret for months. However, the kids watched and clapped at their dad and soon-to-be-stepmum. They too joined for a group hug thereafter.
The two met in January 2017 in Dubai and since then have kept their relationship a secret, out of public eye. Later, in August both went public on social media.
Kate said she would step back from public eye and focus on the new relationship, keeping the life private as her priority is Rio and the new family.
In October 2017 Rio disclosed about his relationship with Kate saying, “I’m really happy now, the kids are really happy, it’s the happiest they’ve been. I’m in a relationship and it’s going well.”
He continued saying that his children deserve to be happy as in past couple of years they have experienced tragedy.
Rio’s first wife Rebecca Ellison died in 2015. She was 34 then and mom of the three kids.
Kate had earlier dated Dan Edgar for about six years.
