Friday the 13th and superstitions

Hip-hop artist and American rapper Tupac Shakur died on Friday the 13th in September 1996. He was fatally shot. In September 1940 the Nazi Germany bombed Buckingham Palace during the World War II. It was the same 13 Friday then. In July 1821 the Nathan Bedford Forrest of the Klu Klux Klan was born.

Friday the 13th is associated with misfortune. In 2019 this is the first Friday the 13th – September 13. The next will be on December 13, which is thirteen weeks later and believed to be a lot of misfortune.

In 2016 there was just one Friday the 13th. Next single 13 Friday will be in 2021, in the month of August.

In 2015 there were three such Friday – February, March and November. The next time when three Friday the 13th will take place will be in 2026 – February, March and November.

Astrologer Amy Tripp said, “It’s superstitious significance has roots in Christianity, as Judas was the 13th guest at the Last Supper and the crucifixion of Jesus occurred on a Friday.”

She further added that tarot 13 is the Death card.

In terms of astrology Friday is associated by lady Venus and in numerology the number 13 has a strong feminine vibration as it is associated with death, rebirth and creation.

Tripp continues, “In astrology, the moon is associated with women and motherhood… Like the Moon cycle, women also have 13 menstrual cycles in one year… Due to patriarchy, Friday the 13th with its powerful feminine energy turned into something to be feared.”
