Japan Defeats Colombia Which Suffered Red Card In 3rd Minute

It was second fastest red card in FIFA World Cup history when Sanchez was sent off in just the 3rd minute of the game and Colombia had to play with ten-man team against Japan resulting with a defeat by 2-1 goals on Tuesday in their opening Group H match.

With the win Japan became first Asian side to beat a South American team at WC. It was a sweet revenge for the nation after 4-1 maulingn in the group stages of Brazil 2014 world cup.

Even though the Japanese team received Akira Nishino as their head coach very recently in April, but the team seems to had a dream start to their Russian campaign.

It was an explosive start with first red card of World Cup 2018 with a handball when Sanchez blocked with raised arm the efforts of Osako who fired a shot and Shinji Kagawa netted a penalty. However, at half-time a free-kick for Columbia equalized the score.

The first fastest red card was at Mexico 86 game when Jose Batista of Uruguay was sent off playing against Scotland.

Coach Nishino said, “If we had actually won the World Cup, then we would have a parade on the main street of Saransk… But this is just one win and only three points. We still have more tough matches. We aimed high coming into this match and have been rewarded.”
