Jennifer Lawrence is a middle school dropout and she does not regret it. She said had left school at the age of fourteen to pursue acting career.
Talking to 60 Minutes the 27-year-old star added, “I dropped out of middle school. I don’t technically have a GED or a diploma. I am self-educated.”
Bill Whitaker asked whether she regretted her decision of quitting school and paving way to acting. The actress responded saying she wanted to forge her own path and so there was no regret.
The Red Sparrow star said school was not easy for her while acting was her true calling. She didn’t want anything come between her and acting career, not even friends and for several years they were not so important compared to her career.
Lawrence continued further saying she struggled through school and admitted her parents were not thrilled with her middle school dropout decision. Her determination paid off and this is the reason she starred in several popular films including Hunger Games and X-Men. In her career she has received Oscars for her performance in Silver Linings Playbook.
However, the path was not rosy for her as it seems now. The actress experienced dangers of fame too. Her privacy was violated to great extent. About four years ago her nude photos were released online by a hacker. Following the experience she became reluctant to take onscreen nudity. She signed for the lead role in Red Sparrow, the film which required nudity.
Lawrence said there’s difference between consent and not. She showed up and felt empowered. She is using it in her art. She has got back what was taken away from her.
