Kate Middleton is one of the luckiest person on earth to wear some of the most valuable jewelry in the world. The Duchess of Cambridge was gifted a Merci Maman necklace by her royal sibling Pippa Middleton in 2013 when she gave birth to Prince George.
Princess Diana was gifted a similar necklace by husband Prince Charles in 1982 when gave birth to Prince William, Kate’s husband.
According to a blog post by Merci Maman, Prince Charles had gifted a gold pendant engraved the name of Prince William to Diana in 1982 upon the birth of their son and the princess always wore the piece of jewelry close to her heart.
The post further added, “In 2013, Pippa Middleton continued this family tradition by giving her sister Kate. The Duchess of Cambridge, out Personalised Duchess Necklace to celebrate the birth of Princess George.”
Earlier, Kate was also presented with priceless jewels by husband Prince William including an engagement ring. On regular basis the Duchess is also loaned with several of Queen’s crowns, tiaras and necklaces.
Understanding the tradition of gifting something royal and something priceless, it might had been pretty hard for Pippa what to gift to the Duchess of Cambridge.
The necklace is undoubtedly an exceptionally meaningful piece of jewelry to gift the royal sibling when Prince George was born in 2013.
The jewelry features a gold-plated disc inscribed with “George Alexander Louis” word for Prince George and a letter “W” too is engraved alongside for Prince William.
