Kate Middleton looks stunning on red carpet with Prince William

Kate Middleton looked simply stunning last night as she graced the red carpet in a gorgeous cream gown with thigh-high split.

Kate and her husband Prince William were pictured arriving at the premiere of new movie Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom in London’s Leicester Square and all eyes were on them.

The evening was tainted by much sadness however, as it was later announced that Nelson Mandela – who the film is based on – had died in South Africa aged 95.

The couple were still in the cinema when the news of Mandela’s death was announced to the audience as the credits to the film rolled.

They had been told by an aide shortly before the film ended.

Prince William approached cameras as he and Kate left the venue and said: “I just wanted to say it’s extremely sad and tragic news.

“We’ve just been reminded what an extraordinary and inspiring man Nelson Mandela was. My thoughts and prayers are with the Mandela family. It’s very sad.”

Kate stood next to William as he delivered his tribute to journalists. She then accompanied him as they headed outside looking sombre.

The couple are believed to have travelled straight home, where their baby son George was being looked after by a nanny.

Kate had teamed her dress with a simple pair of black court shoes, a small black clutch bag and a stunning statement necklace, priced at just £19.99 from Zara.

She swept her hair back into a loose low ponytail and kept her make-up natural with a smokey eye.
