Key Notes Of Theresa May Over Brexit At Conservative Conference

British Prime Minister Theresa May delivered her first speech Sunday at the Conservative Party conference after being elected to lead the country and also initiate Brexit. Below are some of the key notes over the topic:

Brexit

May said even now some of the democratically elected politicians believe referendum is not valid and second vote should be on card. Others point out to be challenging the attempt of UK’s leaving European Union through courts.

She added the referendum result was legitimate and clear, and with this Brexit means Brexit, which is going to be a success.

People getting informed

The PM said it is not possible to give running commentary of the negotiations and it is also not possible to reveal a blow-by-blow account. Moreover, history reveals such negotiations failed when interlocutors predicted the deal outcome ahead of time.

She said everyone needs to have patient as media hype could make it hard to get the right deal for the country. The government will surely inform people with updates on the negotiations.

Article 50

Article 50 was not initiated immediately after the referendum to give some space in developing negotiation strategy and avoid setting clock ticking until objectives are agreed and those are clear too, said May.

The leader further added there is uncertainty but the sky has not fallen in as UK’s economy is strong.

However, May didn’t forget to mention there will no unnecessary delays in the invoking of Article 50 and it will be done when they are well prepared for it. She hinted it will be no later than the end of March 2017.
