Mull Of Killough bounded away to repeat last year’s triumph

Jane Chapple-Hyam’s globetrotter Mull Of Killough (4/1) repeated his victory of 12 months ago in the Weatherbys Hamilton Insurance Earl Of Sefton Stakes at Newmarket.

Having run in Singapore, America, Australia and Dubai since his win in this race last year, the eight-year-old showed he is as good as ever.

Adam Kirby tracked Boom And Bust early one before taking over fully three furlongs out.

Fencing made his challenge and Just The Judge threatened briefly but Mull Of Killough kicked clear inside the final furlong.

French Navy made up plenty of late ground to claim second, beaten a length, with Fencing back in third.

Gospel Choir also caught the eye and will be see to better effect over further, running on into fourth.

Chapple-Hyam said: “It’s Mully’s Motorway not the Rowley Mile! You’ve got to take your hat off to Adam as that was a brilliant ride.

“I suppose we take the penalty in the Huxley (Stakes) at Chester next.

“I think now he’s eight he might not get as many invites overseas, but he’s had a wonderful career already.”
