Keeping Up With The Kardashian star Kim Kardashian has psoriatic arthritis. She is diagnosed lately following pain in hands and arms.
The wife of rapper Kanye West had her medical worries aired on her reality TV series.
Psoriatic arthritis is a type of arthritis that is usually caused by psoriasis and not from lupus as earlier she feared from her lupus scare.
The type of arthritis affected Kim’s joints and those became swollen and stiff. The joints were painful too.
From the ultrasound report of her hands the doctor confirmed she has no lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, but evidence of psoriatic arthritis has been detected and psoriasis comes and goes.
The mother of four said she can handle such condition that comes and goes. She was at relief to learn she had no lupus, which is an autoimmune disease and usually attacks the health tissues of a body.
Currently Kim is on medication to cope up with the joint pains.
She said, “When you do have a diagnosis – or you get tested for something and you get a result that you weren’t expecting – you definitely get in your head and for a second you kind of get this little depression of.”
Kim added that she wants to be active for her kids and there is no point in getting depressed to what happens in life.
Currently the psoriatic arthritis suffering is mild but over the years can get worse and in severe cases the joints may get damaged permanently.
According to health experts, the progression of such arthritis can be minimized or prevented with appropriate treatment.
