Londoners Urged To Use No Cars On Monday Amid Incoming Air Pollution From Europe

Amid air pollution drifting in from Europe, the Londoners were urged to leave their cars at home on Monday. The worst affected areas included Westminster and moderate warnings were issued for the city.

London Air, the pollution monitoring centre at King’s College, said the polluted air is coming in from France and its toxic fumes are bad for the city.

Green Party Assembly Member Caroline Russell said it is great on the part of Mayor of London Sadiq Khan that he issued the pollution warnings, but just the announcement won’t work enough as the government need to tackle the pollution at the source.

He added to have supported the Paris-style car-free days idea of the Mayor, but this would surely not be the substitute for decisive action on the pollution as well as the traffic reduction.

Green Party peer Jenny Jones the Mayor should also urge the London motorists not to drive at the time of air pollution spike in the city.

Meanwhile, the Public Health England has cautioned adults and also the children with lung or heart problems due to the air pollution.

It is suggested to reduce outdoors and physical activities if symptoms are experienced as the PM2.5 particulate matter of pollution is dangerous for having the ability of entering the lungs and seeping into bloodstream.

It is learned the diesel emissions produce high amounts of nitrogen dioxide pollution and this is more harmful to health.

Very recently the Mayor had also announced plans of spending 770 pounds in the next five years on cycling schemes so that cycling to become safe choice for the people of London.
