Mel Gibson and Antonio Banderas Join Expendables 3

New recruits for Stallone’s action sequel.

Recently Bruce Willis dropped out of the soon to start shooting three-quel over a pay demand that would have seen the ageing star get $1 million a day. Sylvester Stallone announced on Twitter that he had replaced Willis with Harrison Ford and now two new action legends have joined the ranks of Expendables 3.

Mel Gibson and Antonio Banderas have long been on Stallone’s wish list of actors and now they’ve made it official by signing up to appear in the next instalment of the action franchise. Gibson and Banderas can be seen together later this year in Robert Rodriguez’ highly anticipated sequel Machete Kills, playing against type Gibson is the villain but given the actor’s public meltdown this could turn out to be a smart move for the former Lethal Weapon star.

Currently the confirmed cast members for Expendables 3 are; Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Milla Jovovich, Kellan Lutz, Dolph Lundgren, Wesley Snipes, Victor Ortiz and Ronda Rousey joining Stallone, Gibson, Banderas and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Expect more names to be added  as we get closer to cameras rolling later this year.

Expendables 3 is due in cinemas August 2014.
