Black Entertainment Television (BET) network is in action following Nicki Minaj condemned an offensive tweet sent to her. An apology was first issued Monday night and an internal investigation is in process.
During the 2019 awards show Nicki hit back at BET saying she is canceling all the further projects with the network.
She claimed a tweet was sent to her by BET about being ‘dragged by her lacefront [wig]’ adding that Grammys are bullying her for seven years.
However, the tweet was deleted swiftly.
A BET released statement read, “Unfortunately, the respect we have for Nicki was violated by this post that should never have been written. The post does not reflect how we feel about Nicki. And further does not reflect our company values.”
BET added that they deeply apologizes Nicki for the confusion, disappointment and hurt caused by their tweet that should never have been posted.
The network further said their post does not reflect how they feel about the celebrity and also not the values of BET.
BET confirmed an internal audit is in progress to assure such posts are not published again.
The hitmaker earlier denounced the network and the tweet saying, “Young Money will no longer be apart of the BET Experience or award show. Summer Tour dates dropping soon.”
Meanwhile, Nicki is encouraging followers to get refunds of the BET weekend event to be held in June as she would not be performing at the Los Angeles’ Staples Center.
