The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) is to be held this Sunday, August 30, and ahead of it the network has announced Nicki Minaj will be opening it with her killer performance.
The other performances include that of Justin Bieber, Pharrell Williams, the Weeknd, Demi Lovato, Tori Kelly, Mackloemore & Ryan Lewis, ASAP Rocky and Twenty One Pilots.
In 2014 too the pop-rap star helped the MTV to kick off the event. She performed a medley alongside Jessie J and Ariana Grande. It was a Anaconda performance and much appreciated, setting up bar for other performers too high.
This year is her third time performing for the ceremony.
Currently Minaj is busy with her sold-out Pinkprint Tour. After several overseas performances, she is touring across the US.
Meanwhile, the host Miley Cyrus seems to be uncomfortable with the announcement of Nicki Minaj. In a recent interview she said the rapper is not polite and kind type of person in her approach and with Taylor Swift she behaved with anger.
Cyrus was talking about the Taylor Swift-VMA nomination controversy.
After the nomination announcement Minaj showed her grievances about it in series of tweets, and specially the exclusion of her song from the race. In the pop music world she raised larger questions about body image and race.
The debate got more fire on social media between the two. Eventually it wrapped up after Swift apologized. She said to have misunderstood and thereafter misspoke.
As a response Minaj said there was no bad blood between them even though some media headlines labelled their debate as cat fight.
