Russell Tovey sets sights on States

Russell Tovey wants to crack America.

The ‘Job Lot’ actor is hoping to follow in the footsteps of his close friends James Corden and Dominic Cooper by making it big Stateside, but only once his schedule clears him of commitments in the UK.

He said: ”I’m doing a really exciting play and a BBC thriller next, so I don’t have time to commit to two months for pilot season in Hollywood. But I did go out there at the end of last year. It went brilliantly and I have an agent there now, which is awesome.

Shows like ‘Downton Abbey’ have crossed over there, and they’re interested in Brits. A lot of my shows, like ‘Little Dorrit’, won Emmys, ‘Being Human’ was on BBC America and ‘The History Boys’ translated over there. So it will happen.

”Two months in the sun in LA, yoga, sitting in Starbucks trying to get wi-fi? I’m up for that.”

Russell also believes his latest venture, sit-com ‘The Job Lot’ – which begins on ITV tonight (29.04.13) – could be ”something special”.

He added to The Sun newspaper: ”I feel this could tap into something special. It’s very current, with the climate of unemployment. But also, it’s so well written and the characters are so strong that I think it’s got a really good vibe about it.”
