Muslim law student Sara Iftekhar has become a good example for the world that women who wear hijab deserve to be in the public eye. Securing a place as a finalist in the Miss England 2018 competition she reveals beauty comes in many forms.
The 20-year-old Miss Huddersfield and Miss Yorkshire Popularity 2018 is the first beauty queen to wear hijab in the final. She wants to go one step ahead. She wants to become first hijab-wearing woman to grab the crown of Miss England.
The Miss England final event is on Tuesday and she will face tough competition from 49 other beautiful ladies. If she wins, she will represent England at the Miss World 2018 later this year in Sanya, China.
Sharing her feelings with fans on Instagram she said, “I still feel honored to be one of the amazing girls in the top 50 chosen out of 22,000 women… I just can’t wait to see where this journey takes me.”
Miss England 2018 is raising funds for a charity program Beauty with a Purpose, which helps displaced and underprivileged children in Vietnam, people affected by natural disasters and the cleft palate teams in Russia, Sri Lanka and South America. Sara is using her publicity to show support for it. She has set up a Go Fund Me page.
Sara started her own business at the age of just 16.
Another Muslim contestant, Maria, became the first Muslim woman to wear a headscarf to enter the competition. However, she failed to get through the elimination rounds.
