
Mayfair Music gave Nicky Henderson a timely boost when running out an impressive winner of a Listed hurdle at Doncaster.
It has been a difficult week for the Seven Barrows handler who was forced to rule Sprinter Sacre out of the Cheltenham Festival but his progressive mare gave him reason to smile with a four and a half length victory in the William Hill – Bet On The Move Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle.
The five-year-old had run out an easy winner on her hurdling bow in December and the form had been boosted with the runner-up going on to win her next two starts by an aggregate of 28 lengths.
Mayfair Music was supported into 15/8 favourite and her supporters had very few moments of concern as Barry Geraghty appeared to be travelling better than his rivals turning into the straight.
The daughter of Presenting found plenty for pressure and quickly opened up a commanding advantage having jumped the second last and she never looked like relinquishing her lead.
