Sylvester Stallone is to make a comeback as Rambo – even though he is now 67 years old!
Movie bosses have today confirmed Rambo V will be written and star Stallone with a release date scheduled for next year.
Splendid Film have bought the rights to the sequel, in which Stallone will play his role as troubled war veteran John Rambo again.
Talk of the fifth installment has been going for the last few years but was confirmed in a statement by the film company. Stallone said last year he was desperate to get back into the role and is still fit despite his age.
He said: I’m dying to do another Rambo. He’s in Arizona on the border. It will involve him going into Mexico.
Splendid Film said in a statement today:
With Rambo V, Sylvester Stallone returns in his iconic role. This time, he goes up against a Mexican cartel.
Stallone, who has also written the screenplay, describes the new Rambo as his version of No Country for Old Men. Like the last film, Rambo V is produced by Avi Lerner (The Expendables 1-3).
There is no doubt the film franchise has been a huge box office success and would again bring audiences to the cinemas. The fourth film grossed $113m (£66.4m) globally during its run at the international box office.
