Late Friday afternoon the much anticipated announcement came from Serena Williams’ elder sister Venus Williams saying, “Congratulations to @serenawilliams for giving birth to a baby girl! Sending you LOVE from your friends & family at the #USOpen and @WTA!”
The 23-time Grand Slam winner gave birth to a baby girl on Friday at the St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.
However, as of now there is no confirmation from Serena’s representatives. Sources said the baby weighs six pounds and 15 ounces.
The tennis star will turn 36 later this month. She is engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.

Spanish star Rafa Nadal tweeted, “Congrats Serena!!! So much joy for you!!!”
US tennis legend Chris Evert said, “I’m so thrilled for her. And what a role model she’s going to be for her daughter.”
One of her fans wrote on Twitter, “Hello to the future queen of tennis… A future champion is born.”
Serena Williams revealed her pregnancy in April this year. She was induced overnight Thursday at the St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
Williams won the last Australian Open title while newly being pregnant and had vowed to return to competitive tennis in January.
Talking to Vogue in August she said to have set herself a goal to play in Melbourne at next year’s Open.
Her coach Mouratoglou tweeted Friday, “I wish you a speedy recovery… we have a lot of work ahead of us.”
