On the eve of international conference for climate change protesters in hundreds and thousands marched in about 2,000 events across the world to put pressure to act.
More than 20,000 pairs of shoes were laid out in the Place de la Republique in French capital Paris after protesters were not permitted to march citing security reasons in the wake of multiple attacks in the city on November 13 in which 129 people were killed and more than 300 were injured.
It is said the Vatican City too had sent a pair of shoes on behalf of Pope Francis. After the protests the shoes are reported to be donated to the needy ones.
The United Nations climate change summit is to be held from November 30 to December 11 in Paris. Leaders from more than 140 countries are expected to arrive including United States Barack Obama, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate on the commitment to fight climate change and help in reducing the carbon dioxide emissions.
French foreign minister Laurent Fabius said about 95 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions have come up with their own plans on lowering the emissions and this is something very new.
He added further all the countries coming to attend the summit have projected to limit the global warming by between 2.7 and 3.5 degree Celsius instead of just limited it to a threshold of 2 degrees in which worst effects of climate change could be avoided.
Climate Change summit supporters hopes the new approach will be more affective.
