Neal Bishop: Has enjoyed his time at Bloomfield Road
Neal Bishop is waiting to discover whether his future lies at Blackpool, a club he claims to ‘love’, or somewhere else.
The midfielder is among those to have reached the end of their contract at Bloomfield Road.
Discussions regarding a new deal have been opened, but no future calls are being made as Blackpool look to fill their managerial void.
Bishop says he would willingly put pen to paper if terms are forthcoming, with the 32-year-old having thoroughly enjoyed his 12 months at the club despite all of the on and off field distractions.
He said in the Blackpool Gazette: “I know it’s odd to say it, but I really enjoyed last season.
“I love the place, I love the people and everyone has been fantastic since I joined.
“There were a few people who questioned me when I signed, but everyone has been first class.
“I’d love to be here next season. I know there is a lot of negativity around, but I love everything about the place.”
Bishop believes the future is looking brighter at Blackpool, with chairman Karl Oyston closing in on the appointment of a new boss that will allow the club to kick on into pre-season.
He added: “Everyone knows there was going to be big changes in the squad this summer.
“There were blatant gaps in the squad last season and I’m sure whoever comes in will be looking to address that quickly.
“There’s going to be a huge turnaround of players – I think last season was a wake-up call for everyone at the club.”
