Manchester City
Many pundits are placing Manchester City on a pedestal to win the league again this year. They’ve not needed as much in terms of strengthening as many other teams have and there aren’t any weaknesses within the squad that could hold them back significantly. With this in mind, there aren’t many teams that City wouldn’t be able to beat without any problems whatsoever. While this may well lead to some dissatisfaction from those who want more of a challenge and a test of skill from the competition, fans certainly won’t be disappointed if City can repeat their success of last season. Manchester City remain the team to beat, even though they’ve picked up considerably less points than in the previous campaign.
Liverpool
This year could well be Liverpool’s year to take it to the top of the Premier League. The likes of David Silva and Fernandinho may be getting older, leading to injuries piling up, making for a good opportunity for Liverpool to win the league. Fans are finally feeling that this is the year for the Reds to see success in this competition and they have a team that are up for the challenge. The Reds played their role in a magnificent title race last season and they have yet to struggle for goals in any of their fixtures. They seem hungrier for the win this time around than anyone else and that drive is likely to be what sets them apart from Manchester City’s potential complacency. Klopp may not have made any big signings this summer, but the squad is bolstered by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Joe Gomez and Rhian Brewster so they’re in great shape to end City’s reign as champion.
Chelsea
The odds are low that Frank Lampard can turn around a disastrous start and lead the Blues to glory, but the team have started to find their feet in recent weeks, and they could be in with an outside chance of taking the title. It took four tries for Chelsea to win a game at Stamford Bridge, but with 14 points to their name, they’re getting stronger and could be ones to watch.
Arsenal
Arsenal are currently third in the table and could be in with a chance of ending what will be a 16-year drought if they win the Premier League title next May. They’ve only lost one game this season and along with Liverpool, they’re one of just two teams to have netted every single one of their fixtures. While the odds are on City or Liverpool to win this campaign, there’s no denying that Arsenal have a solid chance of defeating them both.
