Marc Wilson: Wants Stoke to have a strong finish to the end of the season
Marc Wilson says Stoke are not going to rest on their laurels, as they prepare to face Cardiff City and old team-mate Kenwyne Jones on Saturday.
The Potters occupy a mid-table place with 43 points, having picked up five wins in their last seven Premier League games.
Wilson hopes they can push on for the remainder of the campaign and beat the club’s best Premier League total of 47 points.
The 26-year-old told the Stoke Sentinel: “We want to finish as high as possible and pick up as many points as possible this season.
“Now we are edging closer to our best points total. That’s what we’ve been saying all along. We want to try to push over that if possible.
“We’ve got four games left and they will all be difficult. We’re taking on teams who are fighting to stay in the division.
“We can’t take our foot off the gas now. We won’t be slacking up. We have to be on the top of our game every weekend.”
The Potters travel to the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday, where Jones will face his old club for the first time since leaving Stoke in January.
Wilson added: “On his day Kenwyne is a very difficult player to play against. We just want to keep doing what we have been doing recently and concentrate on our own game.
“Cardiff had a brilliant win at Southampton last weekend and they will be desperate for another three points.
“We want to keep improving our away form too and win more games on the road and if we can do that we can take the confidence into next season.”
