Jason Day: Targeting comeback at The Players Championship

Australian golfer Jason Day is set to miss another three weeks of action with a thumb injury.

The 26-year-old endured a six-week lay-off before the Masters after originally suffering the injury on his way to winning the Match Play Championship in February.

Day now has a cast on his left hand to help the injury heal and has already withdrawn from this week’s RBC Heritage event in South Carolina.

The world No 5 has targeted The Players Championship, which gets under way on May 8, for his comeback.

Day, who finished the Masters in a share of 20th place, had enjoyed a fine start to the season with a win at the Match Play Championship and a second-place finish at the Farmers Insurance Open from four starts.
