BREAKING: Twin Bomb Blasts In Ankara, Turkey; 20 Killed

At least 20 people have been killed in two bomb blasts outside the main train station in the Turkish capital Ankara on Saturday and dozens have been injured while hundreds gathered for a peace march.

TV footage shows several bodies covered by flags, banners and placards of pro-Kurdish opposition People’s Democratic Party (HDP). Bloodstains can be seen across the road and body parts scattered.

The Turkish government says it’s a terrorist attack and were carried out by suicide bombers.

An emergency meeting is to be held shortly today by Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu with heads of the police and also with the intelligence agencies along with other senior officials.

According to eye witnesses, both the explosions happened at around 10 a.m. local time and were just seconds apart. The rally was conducted to protest against conflict between Turkish forces and Kurdish militants in the southeast parts of the country.

Violence between the government forces and the Kurdish terror group have been seen ignited further since July this year after the government launched air strikes on the camps of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

In 2012 peace talks were held between the government and PKK’s jailed leader. In 1984 the PKK had launched a separatist insurgency killing more than 40,000 people.

PKK has been designated as a terrorist group by the US, EU and of course by Turkey.

Today’s attacks came less than a month when a parliamentary election was held in Turkey.
